These Hands: Black and Brown Interpreters Virtual Meeting

April 7 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Affinity Group: Black and Brown Interpreters

This affinity group provides a vital space for interpreters who identify as Black or Brown to connect, support, and uplift one another. Within the interpreting field, as in many professions, individuals from marginalized communities can face unique challenges related to representation, access, and equity. This group fosters a sense of community, allowing members to share experiences, discuss strategies for navigating professional obstacles, and advocate for greater diversity and inclusion within the interpreting profession. This group also serves as a space to discuss general interpreting issues. Members can share and explore ethical dilemmas, best practices, and the evolving landscape of the interpreting field, all within a supportive environment where shared cultural understandings and lived experiences enhance the depth of these professional conversations.  All meetings are virtual and conducted in American Sign Language (ASL).
