WHAT IS SSP?
“A Support Service Provider, commonly referred to as an SSP, is a specially trained individual who provides access to the community for people who are deaf-blind. This empowers the deaf-blind person to make decisions for themselves based on the visual, environmental and social information provided by the SSP. Human guide assistance is another responsibility. Additionally, the SSP is responsible to facilitate communication for the deaf-blind person.” (Source: Helen Keller Center)
