Description: Have you ever interpreted for someone who loves the limelight? Someone who is sarcastic, goofy, and loves to be seen and heard? Have you interpreted for someone who stands as still as a statue, but their voice carries so much emotion you become entranced with their message? As an interpreter, it can be hard to convey what’s happening. Sometimes we can “over-interpret” or even “under-interpret”. In a hearing world, we are able to see, hear, and comprehend what is being presented by utilizing many senses. But take hearing out of the equation, what’s missed? The rise and fall of a deep voice. Silly “ahem’s” following a sarcastic joke. Idioms and metaphors. Matching your presenter has a million challenges that have to be met at that moment. This workshop will be interactive on how to approach different scenarios.
