SUMMARY:Matching Your Presenter
DESCRIPTION:In Person at Cap Gun Studios 1219 Union Ave.  Kansas City\, MO. 64101  (Cap Gun Studios is not an ADA- accessible space.) **Stairs only to the second floor. \n0.3  RID CEUS (GS) \nInstruction Level: Little/None \nDescription: Have you ever interpreted for someone who loves the limelight? Someone who is sarcastic\, goofy\, and loves to be seen and heard? Have you interpreted for someone who stands as still as a statue\, but their voice carries so much emotion you become entranced with their message? As an interpreter\, it can be hard to convey what’s happening. Sometimes we can “over-interpret” or even “under-interpret”. In a hearing world\, we are able to see\, hear\, and comprehend what is being presented by utilizing many senses. But take hearing out of the equation\, what’s missed? The rise and fall of a deep voice. Silly “ahem’s” following a sarcastic joke. Idioms and metaphors. Matching your presenter has a million challenges that have to be met at that moment. This workshop will be interactive on how to approach different scenarios.

SUMMARY:Remember Your Space: Storytelling Time
DESCRIPTION:In Person at Cap Gun Studio  1219 Union Ave. Kansas City\, MO. (This building is not ADA -accessible space). Stairs only to the second floor. \nCEUs:0.6 RID (PS) \nCourse Description: Sometimes interpreters get stuck in their native second language. Native second? ( I just made that word up\, definitely not a real word). Yes\, stuck in English signing. It’s a hard habit to break! This workshop is 100% storytelling with gestures\, sign space\, roll shifting\, eye-gaze\, body engagement\, etc. Upon entering the room\, you’ll choose random playing cards. Each stack is unique. With your stack\, you will see cards displaying people\, places\, things\, events\, and many more. You will be given time to work on your own to create an ASL story…WITHOUT fingerspelling or using words twice OH MY. Get your chance to tell a strong ASL story in front of your peers. We all have something to learn from you. This is a positive environment meant to lift each other up and learn from your specific skills. It’s the audience attendees that will benefit most.

SUMMARY:The Significant Impact of Quick Research\, Comicon Version!
DESCRIPTION:In person at: Cap Gun Studio  1219 Union Ave. KC MO.   (This is not an ADA-accessible space) *Stairs only to the second floor*\n\n0.3 RID CEUS (GS) \nDescription: Have you ever accepted a very niche-specific job and immediately thought “WHY DID I TAKE THAT?” As an interpreter it’s essential to render the message faithfully\, but how do you render “It’s bigger on the inside!” ? What the heck does that mean? Well\, I can tell you who knows\, the presenter and the client. As the intermediary\, how do you deliver the content without taking away the whimsey of this statement? \nWell have no fear\, in this workshop\, you will learn how to utilize apps on your personal device when you’re in a rush! This will help you add to your already ginormous toolbag of skills\, give you practice on how to research quickly\, and build enough confidence to say “I got this!”
