SUMMARY:Interp. WS: National ASL Interpreter Income Study: Results & Ethical Discussion for St. Louis Interpreters.
DESCRIPTION:National ASL Interpreter Income Study \nFor too long\, conversations about interpreter income\, rates\, and finances have been swept under the rug.\nThis engaging session presents results from the first-of-its-kind National ASL Interpreter Income Study. This isn’t just\nabout raw numbers; it’s about understanding the nuance and context of the interpreter experience. We are sharing\nrich demographic\, sentiment\, and workplace information\, all presented in clear\, compelling graphics. We will explore\nhow various factors overlap and align\, with income data that has real meaning after it’s been adjusted for regional\ncost of living.\nThis session isn’t just a data dump. It’s an invitation to evidence-based dialogue. We’ll confront pervasive myths and\nanecdotes with hard data\, fostering a space for honest discussion. You’ll have the chance to consider real-world\napplications\, impacts on your own practice\, and how you can bring this vital information back to your own\ncommunities.\nIt’s time for interpreters to get ahead of the curve. It’s time to understand how our relationship with money impacts\nour work\, ourselves\, and the Deaf community. Join us to explore this unprecedented data\, engage in vital\nconversations guided by evidence and equity and contribute to the positive change our field desperately needs. \n  \nUpon completion of this activity\, participants will be able to:\n*Analyze and assess at least one common narrative about\ninterpreter income\, utilizing both new and existing data\n*Examine their own business practices\, reflecting on the\nemotions\, narratives\, and evidence that have contributed to\ntheir decisions\n*Describe at least two areas of business practices where\ninterpreter practitioners and/or students could benefit from\nfurther exploration\, research\, and information-sharing. \n \n \n \n \n \n Loading...\n \n \n \n \n \n Taking too long?\n \n \n \n Reload document \n |\n \n Open in new tab \n \n \n \n \nParaquad will be the hosting location \n5240 Oakland Ave 63110. \nThere is plenty of free parking just off of Macklind\, and accessible parking by the front door. \nThe new deadline to make an accommodations request is April 24th by 11:59 pm \nIf you would like to preview some of the information the research garnered go to this website and a free copy of the report will be sent to your inbox. \n\nwebsite: Insightful Interpreter Research Website
